While the first version of this mix that I made wasn't too popular, I still had yet to implement all the ideas I had for this song into a finished mix. At the time I wasn't able to accomplish everything I had wanted...
I have learned much since I first tried this mix out in '98. This mix is a complete overhaul and many, MANY new sounds and effects have been added. The end result is a stronger, more dynamic mix that I'm very happy with.
General changes include punchier drums, a 3/4 timed bassline loop sampled from Depeche Mode's "Surrender" modified to the drums, EQ adjustments to eliminate the dull and muddy artifacts and several layers of the track with various effects to bring out other sounds giving it a richer atmospheric feel. I strongly encourage you to play this and the original album version (on "The Innocents") side by side and compare the two.

Really...wow, a mix that's better than the album version. Quite a feat, in these days of stripped and overworked mixes.
Maybe you'll consider the rest of The Innocents for similar treatment? ;-)
