One of my biggest beefs with Stay With Me was the excessive lyrics in the song. It wasn't very difficult to come up with a decent arrangement that was more of a traditional verse and chorus kind of song. I edited down the Basic Mix because it was the best of all mixes that had all the lyrics and drums throughout. (Aren't the hihat and crash samples great?!)
The Basic Mix, admittingly... is basic. Using samples from the Album mix, the NY mix and more sounds I had created when I was working on a cover version of this song - I padded up the layers in the mix to make it a little more dynamic throughout. Breaking a rule for any edit that I work on: the track is longer than 4:44, but I had to leave the nice crunchy instrumental break in. Since it's going to be longer anyway, I left the trailing off ending bit on as well... Nice stretch decay effect to end the song with.
