review of James cds Message List Reply | Forward Message #17418 of 20512 < Prev | Next > two words. it rocks. a few more. don't hesitate, buy this disc, with or without the bonus. I got mine yesterday, and it is definitely a labor of love for james, and its worth it and more. I have always wanted Mute to do a box set in the future of lots of rare and obscure things just like this. The quality so far is outstanding, (no I haven't heard it all, there's sooo much here!) If Mute did do a box set like this, it'd be quite a bit more than 12 lousy bucks, more like add a 0 to the end... now, mute if you're listening, we still want an official one of these someday, with direct from the master tape unreleased stuff. please! do your selves a favor, I know that some people may have a problem with James, put it behind you, buy this for yourselves, you want it, just do it... I have to agree with Chris. I received my copy of James' work and it is a magnificent collection of tracks that we would otherwise not get to hear in all their glory. And like Chris, I would love to see an official release from Mute one of these days - with Warner US's help. Strong work James. Cheers. And if you haven't ordered a copy yet, you are missing out. The Compilation Update Message List Reply | Forward Message #17450 of 20512 < Prev | Next > The Compilation from James Hi Isay'ers Just received my package from US (actually rather fast considering that I'm in Denmark) It's a feeling of x-mas, listening to tracks I haven't heard in that quality before, even when converted to audio cd's. And I have to admit, there where also a few I hadn't heard before, I have to envy James and admire his work. But then it comes to my mind that James wasn't at the convention listening to outtakes, and I feel much better again (hehe James) :) If it's true, that James is closing down production soon, I can only advice the slow investors to get ordered, it won't come much better. Med venlig hilsen Vikingman and the vikingmen

Twelfth compilation Message List Reply | Forward Message #17477 of 20512 < Prev | Next > hello everyone, i got my copy of the twelfth compilation in the mail today, and i've been jamming to erasure all morning long. i think i soiled myself upon hearing all these rare tracks. this compilation will definitely keep me busier than the hits! cd until we can hear new material from the boys. thanks james! you rock. cheers, the skip

Re: Twelfth compilation Message List Reply | Forward Message #17480 of 20512 < Prev | Next > I received my cds as well. There is sooo much Erasure material, my brain is trying to process it all. I hope I don't go into Erasure shock! Great job James! Thank you. By the way, why is my unplugged track listing different than the playlist. Does anyone have Chains of Loves (acoustic), Oh L'amour (Acoustic) and A little Respect (acoustic) all mixed up? Annie Editor's note: I switched the track titles of three tracks by accident. This has been fixed for the 2007 release.

12th of Never received!!! Message List Reply | Forward Message #17483 of 20512 < Prev | Next > I just got my copy today :-) It's just that I don't know what to say about it. The truth is I've never seen anything like this before and I doubt that any of you have. Just thinking of all the time James has worked on this project makes me dizzy. James, you have done one remarkable thing here. I will probably never be able to show my gratitude and the feelings I have right now to you in person, but I really doubt you can find a happier Erasure fan right now :-)))) I'm still at work and haven't been able to listen to more than a fraction yet, but just looking at the tracklistings makes me shiver with happiness. I was also lucky enough to get the 3" (# 30) which will be a real treat. Thanks again James and if someone still hasn't ordered a copy yet, what are you waiting for? This is just to good to be true so you better act before the dream is over. Fredrik, Sweden

I got the CD's today and wow, they're amazing. Thank you James. How much do you think I could get on eBay for my CD3 #11? ;) Jonathan

James' compilation Message List Reply | Forward Message #17486 of 20512 < Prev | Next > hi all. it's been a while since i've stopped lurking and participated. over the many years i have been a member of the "i say" list and the "wonderland" list i have seen some pretty great examples of erasure related kindness and devotion (and even was able to give a bit back). but this compilation that james has just put together is the most amazing thing i have ever come across! i had never gotten to hear so many of these things i've heard talked about by the few who had heard them! now i'm among the privileged! thank you james! the quality is so amazing and the selection is overwhelming! i don't know where to start! i will be listening for quite a while! hope i can return the favor some day! to all who are putting off the purchase....you will be sorry! luc

Twelfth compilation Message List Reply | Forward Message #17489 of 20512 < Prev | Next > [ISayISayISay] Twelfth compilation Hi all! Out of lurking mode for the second time, again! I received my compilation from James yesterday and spent the night putting them all onto my iPod with iTunes separated into playlists with the corresponding CD artwork on each track (all found on the CD¹s, not to mention http://expiredmilk.com/thecd/ thanks, James!). I could not be happier. My iPod could not be happier. My planned 8-hour plane trip to Denmark is definitely going to be happier. All the great posts on the list from everyone regarding the CD¹s (IMHO!) don¹t do them justice you really have to own these CD¹s to understand. In short, as my life has become more busy and hectic since I became a fan way back when, this compilation really reminded me why I love Erasure so much. Wonderful work, James and thank you again - so much! ---Tony in Chicago

Twelfth Compliation Message List Reply | Forward Message #17490 of 20512 < Prev | Next > Crawling out of my hole to post a little message..... I received my CD's from James Last night and to have all of these rare item's on 2CD's and in folder's ready to burn is just insane! I've been converting all my Erasure CD's and Vinyl to MP3's and what process it takes, let alone getting rare item's from Other sources and having them sound this good. The quality is Excellent, the presentation is unmatched, and the number of tracks is astounding. Tracks that are priceless to any Erasure fan who has been collecting for years and for those who are new to Erasure. These CD's were used to copy the track's and will never be used again. They are now inshrined in my do not touch Erasure Collection. James you've completely outdone any expectations that any of us have had. This was truly a Labour of Love and I for one am Truly Grateful. Thank You, Mark

Twelfth compilation Message List Reply | Forward Message #17493 of 20512 < Prev | Next > Re: Twelfth compilation Hello All, I'm also going to de-lurk for a bit and express my extreme joy, gratitude and thanks to James for this compilation. I've been listening to it for two days now, and there is some really great stuff in there I hadn't heard yet (especially the MIDI stuff- very cool!). I do have one question though.. on the bonus CD/Live Risotto/Don't Say Your Love is Killing Me (Santiago 97).mp3, at about 1:14 (and elsewhere several times during the show), there is a loud deep voice saying something over the music. Who is that, and what are they saying (and WHY???). Not a complaint, just curious. -Hank (from Boston) Editor's Note: It was a loop audio stamp to identify the recording as broadcasted on radio.

james' 3" / DVD Message List Reply | Forward Message #17495 of 20512 < Prev | Next > i received my 12th discs yesterday(w/o the bonus :) i'm overwhelmed. this is a wonderful collection. i would never be able to find all of this on my own. Great job James!! now, is there a kind soul out there who could supply a copy of the 3" disc??? RE: the DVD - it looks like this collection is packed with good stuff. however i am hoping for the inclusion of the Jools Holland performances of So the Story Goes and Miracle - they sound great on james' collection. maybe they will be hidden? rich

Twelfth arrived!..........error spotted!,Do`h! Message List Reply | Forward Message #17496 of 20512 < Prev | Next > My Twelfth cd`s arrived this morning, yes it was worth the perfect quality MP3`s for the Dinger 7".Some nice unheard MP3`s for me also so well worth the money (well ive said before well underpriced for what it is!) If your a mega-fan/supa-fan/freaky-fan you NEED this release otherwise your collection is somewhat lacking! Hurry and get ordering NOW! Well done James from Sinner to Saint in less than a month, thats some going! Ok here we go- Precious 4 track 21-Trax Trix (Unreleased Instrumental)mp3 This IS NOT a Vince Clarke Instrumental,i was happy to here this as i`m a fan of this group it is in fact Sophie & Peter Johnston....who?,well they are a brother & sister group who never had a UK top 40 hit but did have a near miss with their great single `Happy Together`. This track is actually a theme tune for a childrens Tyne Tees TV show called `TX45`. Its also a shortened version of their track called `Chasing A Dream` from a 12" single called `Torn Open` WEA YZ128T & an alternate version from their self titled album but with the alternate title of `Some Sunny Day`. (album WX127C) In fact the whole album was recorded in Peter Johnstons bedroom,as far from Vince as you can get! Another I-Sayer Miyata can also back up this claim!,another fellow fan of this act. See ya Mark. Editor's Note: Yeah, too bad it wasn't the real thing. The filenames and ID tags have been changed to reflect this (then) new information.

Until the Twelfth of Never Message List Reply | Forward Message #17500 of 20512 < Prev | Next > I have to pipe in too before this thread becomes too tiresome... James's CD set is absolutely the best Erasure investment I've ever made as a whole, easily topping the USA Promo CDs of Chains of Love and A Little Respect that I spent a pretty penny on eBay for. As I type this, I'm listening to the Tommy Musto mixes of Chorus (fascinating!) and it dawned on me how priceless this compilation is. Not only does it fill in the gaps with songs that didn't make the EBX sets (one of James's original intentions, I'm sure) but it excels at being a musical encyclopedia, representing so many genres of dance and club music over the last 20+ years (including the Yazoo stuff). Does anyone have any insider knowledge of the Mute/Sire relationship between 1988-1991? I get the feeling that Sire was trying to milk our boys for all they were worth after The Innocents went big, and tried to change them into something they weren't, like a cheezy commercial dance band. Look at how acid housey the unreleased Stop remixes are compared to the commercially-available remixes. I bet Sire was furious when they first heard Wild and didn't even bother to commission any remixes for Drama, let alone not release You Surround Me here in the States at all. I'd even venture to guess that Sire wanted Blue Savannah to be the first single off Wild all along and commissioned Shep to do the Blue remixes long before Mute decided to officially release Blue Savannah as a single. Where exactly was the breaking point between Mute and Sire? Why did Sire commission a load of remixes for Chorus but not Love to Hate You? Was Sire po'd that Mute wanted Am I Right to be a Christmas single, so they skipped right over it, just like You Surround Me? Anyway, the CDs are great and I'm infinitely grateful to Evil James for his efforts, as well as everyone else who helped him out. When I think of how long it takes me to record-in just one song off of vinyl into my computer, and then clean it up with a wave editor, I have much respect for how much effort went into this project. And finally, I've realized that I'm not in the majority of Erasure fans when it comes to remixes. I'm jamming out to the JT Company remixes of Love to Hate you right now, the Untidy Dub is my favorite remix of Freedom, and the Cold Blooded remixes of DSYLIKM are great as well! (No, I'm not kidding!) - Sleazy

James' CD Message List Reply | Forward Message #17511 of 20512 < Prev | Next > Many, many thanks James for all your hard work. I haven't listened to it in full yet as I haven't had a spare 18 hours....! In the sleeve notes you write "special thanks to Mute Records, the EIS and Erasure for their understanding regarding this project". Have you had any feedback from them? Editor's Note: Minimal, really. Not much of a thanks in return. They didn't sue. I guess that's what counts, right?

Twelfth compilation Message List Reply | Forward Message #17518 of 20512 < Prev | Next > Twelfth compilation Well, I'm not really the one that goes for "me too"-postings but this collection is really awesome! As this one is so extensive (and some of us have to work, ya know :-)) I haven't had the time to listen through all of it yet. But, just the unreleased US remixes of Stop! and Chorus (that I didn't even know existed) is worth it all. (The mixes are not all that thrilling, and I do understand why they were never released, but just hearing them is so cool!) Another diamond in the collection is of course the Dinger tracks in good quality! (Now I can burn the only Erasure bootleg I ever owned!) And for one that is usually anal about sound quality, most of the collection sounds excellent! Of course there's nothing much to do about, for instance, the demo outtakes because of their source but the tracks that our saviour James has ripped himself are very good! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity so if you haven't got yourself a copy already - do so now! And if anyone who got a copy of that ltd 3" live CD would be willing to share it, I am open for suggestions! :-)) Finally I just have a couple of questions for Mr James: What happened to the Funky Sisters Edit? And, since Ferry Aid was included shouldn't Winjama have been there too? (no complains! just questions!) My deepest respect to the compiler! /Fredrik Augustsson (aka The Drama Queen)

Thanks to James Message List Reply | Forward Message #17554 of 20512 < Prev | Next > Got home from our short hoiday on Friday to find the 3 CD's from James. They are awesome - thanks James for your dedication and hard work and for the excellent service. As has already been said, you will kick yourself if you don't get this set while its available.

I received James' cds a couple of weeks ago...but was unable to play them because of a computer problem...The only thing I can say is : Thanks James ! I don't have anything to add that wasn't previously said on the list...but I thought I had to say it anyway. Finally, I'm able to listen to the EIS fan club cds... Great job ! Dominic Montreal

James Compilation Message List Reply | Forward Message #17883 of 20512 < Prev | Next > I have yet to comment on James compilation. I was going to post my raves a week ago, but I didn't want to make it appear to be a "me too" posting. James, you've outdone yourself on this one. Since I am probably one of the last few that received this, there is nothing more that I can add to the reviews. Humming the words to a love song, Kevin

Twelfth's CD's + Freedom - Telephone promo Message List Reply | Forward Message #17911 of 20512 < Prev | Next > Received James' cds today (at last!). All I can say is the one word - AMAZING!!! I thought that I have never get some of the rare and unreleased mixes / versions but with the help of James I got them all!!! Thank you, James! One thing - I can't hear the difference between "Freedom (Telephone 1)" and "Freedom (Telephone 2 - Vocals Up)". Are they idential or not? Best wishes, Twilight 0.2 The differences are superficial and mostly in the level of compression. But they ARE different.........barely. ;)

Last chance for Under the Twelfth (Final Email) Message List Reply | Forward Message #18893 of 20512 < Prev | Next > Re: Last chance for Under the Twelfth (Final Email) --- In ISayISayISay@yahoogroups.com, james {james@e...} wrote: } The rest of us just do what we can to spread the wealth, } but _some appreciation_ for what is done shouldn't be too } hard for you to manage... For the rest of you who have said } thanks and etc... I noticed. It's appreciated in return.) Of all the things to have happened this year ie-singles/albums/tours etc plus all the TV appearances and to top it all the new years eve gig its all down to Mute/us ie the fans etc to be credited with this success......the one thing that binds all this together is the simple word `Official`,with that i mean its all been officially sanctioned by the record company and Erasure. So its all above board, whereas this `twelth` release in whatever form its available (cd-r/dvd-r etc) isn`t actually official in its release, but it has without doubt been `THE` release of this year in terms of quality and rarity,i seriously doubt that anybody on this list or any other will have the wealth of rare items that are on this release in their own collection without having bought this release. The main gripe/complaint i had with this release was the fact that it was highly `UNDERPRICED`,for what i received in my 2cd-rs was with out doubt way in advance of the £7 i paid for it,ok so i did have a few of the tracks already but they were far out numbered by the tracks i didn`t have,so to all the people who did send nasty mails regarding this release have to be out of their minds! WELL DONE AGAIN JAMES this was by far the must have item this year, even if i might add overtaking the DVD and that was a great release! See ya Mark.
